Hufflepuffs

“”Hufflepuffs” was a song I (mostly) wrote in my sleep. I think it works fine without music, though.”

I’m not really that brave they say, and I’m not really that tough.

And I’m not good at memorizing spells or any of that smart people stuff.

And I’m not very ambitious– it takes a lot to get out of my bed.

And I know you want me to rise to greatness, but I have a better idea instead:

Why can’t we all just be Hufflepuffs, where life is a splendid affair?

We could begin each day with a scavenger hunt, and at night we’ll all braid each others’ hair.

I know there have got to be more like me– loyal and true at heart.

We shouldn’t be such a laughing stock. I’m sick of seeing yellow robes on my friends’ bogarts!

You laugh cuz I’m bad at Quidditch– heights mess with my head.

But if you try attacking me or my friends, you’ll run from my Tentacula until you’re dead!

I have always rued the day that the sorting hat chose my fate.

But now I can see, if you follow me, we can make a world without any hate!

Why can’t we all just be Hufflepuffs, where life is a splendid affair?

We could begin each day with a scavenger hunt, and at night we’ll all braid each others’ hair.

I know there have got to be more like me– loyal and true at heart.
